NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) is a national level scholarship exam conducted in India to identified talented students. This exam provides monthly scholarship for talented students for entire academic career. Students who are studying in Class X are eligible to appear for the selection process. This is most prestigious examination at high school level in India.

There are two stage selection process for getting scholarship. Stage 1 is State level and Stage 2 is National Level. For both stages exam will be conducted in two stages that are MAT (Mental Ability Test) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). This NTSE exam is organized in offline mode or pen paper based mode. Paper is available in both hindi and english language and students you have select language from both languages. Every correct answer get 1 mark and no negative marking. The question paper will contain 2 sections - MAT and SAT, each of 100 marks. The total time to answer the paper is 120 minutes for each part. Only those who clear stage-1 will be shortlisted for stage-2 exam.

Annually approximately 1,200,000 to 1,400,000 students take this particular examination. Out of them, only 5000 students get through for stage 2. From the 5000 students, only 1000 candidates will receive the scholarship. According to this selection ratio you can understand competition is very high and how much exam is tough.
